FC Augsburg want to thank their fans for all their support when they host FC Schalke 04 in the WWK ARENA on Saturday (15:30 CET). FCA captain Daniel Baier is setting a good example and leading the way as the team look to return to winning ways.
If the team finds itself in a difficult situation, captain Daniel doesn’t lose his composure. “The atmosphere around the club starts to become a little uneasy. This is normal when you go on a four match winless run. We sat down together as a team following the Leverkusen match and aren’t satisfied. We had hoped for better results but we accept the current situation and will keep our composure. We know we have to do more and want to show this on Saturday.”
Baier believes upcoming opponents Schalke are a very tough side to face. “Schalke experienced a lot of change at the start of the season. Several new players came in and they probably wanted to start the Bundesliga season with a better run of form. However, they have qualified from their Champions League. I believe they are in good shape.” Nevertheless, Baier wants to win and see the correct attitude from his teammates. “Everyone knows what is expected of them. No-one is allowing their heads to drop or complain about the current situation. We are fired up for Saturday and have our next chance to secure a victory.”
