After the narrow 1-0 defeat to VfB Stuttgart on Sunday afternoon, Manuel Baum made his thoughts very clear: “We have to take a long look in the mirror – we only have ourselves to blame”. Read on for all the reaction to the game.
Martin Hinteregger: “That was a very intense game. Stuttgart were smarter than us and had the necessary luck when they needed it. They defended really well after they scored and ran out the time. We unfortunately just couldn’t find an answer.”
Michael Gregoritsch: “We couldn’t string our passes together today and didn’t create enough chances as a result. Stuttgart played well and were a step ahead of us in the moments that mattered.”
Philipp Max: “It was a gritty game with a lot of 50-50 challenges and lots of long balls. We just couldn’t play the way that we know we can. It’s unfortunate that they got such a lucky bounce in the lead up to their goal, but at the end of the day, we couldn’t create enough chances.”
Marwin Hitz: “We made too many errors today and allowed them to take control of the game. We couldn’t make use of all the possession that we had. They didn’t win the game, we lost it.”
Daniel Baier: “Stuttgart really took it to us today and were more aggressive. They deserved to win.”
Manuel Baum: “Stuttgart had more determination, and were always a step ahead of us in the fight to get to the ball. We made too many errors in our build-up play and didn’t really come close to creating anything dangerous. We have to take a long look in the mirror, as only have ourselves to blame.”
Tayfun Korkut: “We were comfortable from the start. We knew that FCA are a good side and would pose problems for us, but we held them in check really well. We had chances to score more in the second half, but we still managed to come away with all three points. We have to keep building, as there’s no time to rest on your laurels in this league.”
