After capturing Rani Khedira yesterday FC Augsburg have continued tob e active in the summer transfer market by signing goalkeeper Fabian Giefer from Schalke 04. The 27-year-old, who had spent the last half of last season at Bristol City, has signed a four year deal until June 2021 at the WWK Arena. The fee will remain undisclosed between the two sides.

“In Fabian Giefer we have signed a goalkeeper in his prime, who already has a lot of experience,” explained Sporting director Stefan Reuter. “We are looking forward to having him at FCA next season.”
Giefer played his entire youth career at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, where he rose to first team level. Spells followed at Fortuna Düsseldorf and FC Schalke 04, before a loan spell at English second division football club Bristol City – where he played 10 games.
