FC Augsburg will play against RBLeipzig on Saturday in their retro kit to celebrate their 111th anniversary. However, captain Daniel Baier’s focus will be on getting the three points this weekend.
The home stand is sold out. The retro jersey is sold out. 17 degrees and sunshine. The conditions for the match on Saturday 20th October (15:30 CEST) against Leipzig couldn’t be better. FCA captain Daniel Baier is excited, “The club has come up with a lot for the retro game day. Our focus as a player however, is on getting the three points. We want to give the fans something to celebrate other than the retro aspect of the game.” Head coach Manuel Baum also said, “In Augsburg, we are aware about the fact the club is built upon members and fans. The team know that too.”
The Augsburg players hope to give the spectators a good game on Saturday and a good result. The aim of the game is clear; fight until you can’t give anything else. “It will be a difficult game. Leipzig are an extremely aggressive team with good pace, but also are good with possession and incredibly flexible. We hope to find a good solution on how to win the game, “said Baum. However, Augsburg won’t have to hide from their strong opponent as Captain Baier confidently said, “We are in a good way too and I hope we can bring that onto the pitch.”
