Some bad news for Augsburg and Erik Thommy after the 3-1 away win against Mainz on the weekend. The attacking player had to be subbed off during the game and has now been diagnosed with ligament damage in his ankle. An operation is not expected at this point, but the situation will be monitored closely.
“I’ve played in both of our last matches, so the injury comes at a particularly frustrating time – even though there’s never a ‘good’ time to be injured,” said Thommy. The 23-year old is already focusing on his comeback though: “I’m going to start my rehab and try and get back on the pitch as quickly as possible”.
Erik Thommy will be out until the winter break and may well miss the first games in January, too.
