Alongside Ja-Cheol Koo, Takashi Usami and Martin Hinteregger, three other FCA players were in action for their countries on Tuesday. Dong-Won Ji had earlier returned to Augsburg after picking up a suspension, ruling him out of yesterday’s fixture.
Ji’s compatriot Ja-Cheol Koo was able to help his side to a 1-0 victory over the group’s surprise team of the campaign, Syria. Former FCA defender Jeong-Ho-Hong scored the winner and ensured that South Korea remain within reach of group leaders Iran. However Uzbekistan are right on the Koreans’ tails as they sit just one point behind.
Takashi Usami was also able to celebrate a win with Japan over Thailand. The Japanese brushed aside the away team to win 4-0. Usami came on in the 84th minute in a victory that sees Japan top group B, level on points with Saudi-Arabia, with Australia closely following just three points behind.
Austria were also in action as they took on Finland in a friendly on Tuesday evening. Martin Hinteregger played the entire 90 minutes in this 1-1 stalemate in Innsbruck.
