FC Augsburg are expecting a tough match in Leverkusen on Saturday, 8th December (15:30 CET). The visitors will want to end their winless run and reward themselves for some strong performances in recent weeks. FCA defender Raphael Framberger is fired up for the match against the Werkself.
Manuel Baum’s side have continued to train hard this week ahead of a difficult clash away at Bayer 04 Leverkusen. FCA’s head coach believes his side are in good shape for the match. “The aim is to develop this strong mentality. We’ve built this strong mentality over the course of this good week of training. We’re fully prepared for the trip to Leverkusen. If we play our best football on Saturday, we can definitely take more than a point from the match.”
Raphael Framberger could feature for FCA at right back in Leverkusen. The 23 year-old believes his competition for a starting place alongside Jonathan Schmid has given him a chance to start. “Competing with Johnny is good for me. We make each other stronger and this has a positive influence on the team.” The Augsburg born defender wants to bring some points home from Leverkusen. “I’d prefer not to be praised for our performance but instead come home with all three points. We’ve shown on multiple occasions this season what we can do. Now we want to reward ourselves for these performances.”
Manuel Baum believes Leverkusen’s greatest strength is on the counter attack. “Bayer can turn defence into attack very quickly and press the ball very well. I personally regard them as one of the top teams in the Bundesliga, even if they are not currently near the top of the table. We need to step our performance to secure points in Leverkusen. However, the last week of training has given me optimism. Regardless of our position in the table, we want to constantly improve. Now we must score more goals and keep it tight at the back.”
