FCA head coach Manuel Baum expects full effort from all his players in training during the international break. Despite a few players being away on international duty, the focus is already on the next game. Baum had a few things to say after training on Tuesday.
…on the last game: “The defeat in Hoffenheim was unlucky. I firmly believe that my team can implement anything I ask of them, against any opponent. But we made the wrong decisions at crucial moments of the game.”
…on the training sessions during the international break: “We want to work a lot on tactics this week. We are obviously missing important players but we have enough quality in the squad to still improve as a team. We need to build up confidence in the players so we can achieve what we want to after the international break.”
…on the injured players: “Andreas Luthe will step up his recovery because he injured his thigh at the beginning of the season and we want to be certain that he is fit. Julian Schieber is fully fit again. He needs to get some match practice under his belt but there are no problems physically. Dong-Won Ji returned to training today but he has not completed his recovery schedule yet. I think he will be fully fit at some point this week.”
…the possible change from 18 players in a matchday squad to 20: “That would be great. The possibilities would be much better if we could name 20 players in the matchday squad. I am limited to only naming one full back in the squad at the moment but I would love to be able to bring a full back for each side. I would welcome it with open arms, if they decided to introduce it after the winter break.”
