Schmidt: “An incredible week with a great ending”
FCA head coach Martin Schmidt watched his team earn a well-deserved victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. “It was an incredible week with a great ending,” said a happy Schmidt after his debut.
Marco Richter: “It was a sublime game. You could see that we gave a lot. I am of course happy with my two goals and it is also funny how all three of my Bundesliga goals have come against Eintracht. We can take a lot of confidence from this game and into the game next week against Stuttgart.”
Daniel Baier: “It was a turbulent week with the change of head coach. The new coach set out his aims right from the start and it was to get something in Frankfurt. It was a hugely important victory and next Saturday it is an even bigger six pointer. Everyone knows that it is a huge game for both teams. If that game goes like today, then we can look towards the three points.”
Jeffrey Gouweleeuw: “Frankfurt are a very strong team, who hadn’t lost a single Bundesliga game this year. We fought back in the game after going 1-0 down. The two goals before the break were very important. We had many chances to get the third, so we should have killed the game off earlier.
Martin Schmidt: "It was an incredible week with a fantastic ending. We wanted to start the game bravely and knew that we might concede a goal against Frankfurt. Therefore, we always knew we had to score our own goals. The team were super prepared, fit and had the right mentality – a big thanks to Manuel Baum. Along with our quality and the necessary luck, we were able to win here. Now there is a game next week against Augsburg which is a real six pointer.”
Adi Hütter: “Congratulations to Augsburg on the win. In my eyes, it was an unnecessary loss because we failed to take advantage of our lead before they scored two goals. After the red card and half time, we showed great mentality and spirit. In the end, it was not enough."
