After Chrislain Matsima won the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Month award in January, the FCA centre-back has been voted as the winner again for March, fending off competition from Michael Olise (FC Bayern) and Nathaniel Brown (Eintracht Frankfurt).

Nominees are required to have been under 23 years of age at the start of the season, while also having featured for fewer than 450 minutes in the Bundesliga. 

Impressive statistics

Matsima started every FCA fixture in March and played the full 90 minutes on every occasion, a month which saw the club set a new club record run of 11 consecutive Bundesliga games without defeat. Jess Thorup’s team also kept a clean sheet in three of their four games, keeping Freiburg (0-0 H), Dortmund (1-0 A) and Wolfsburg (1-0 H) all at bay.

The Frenchman has the club’s highest pass accuracy this season (just over 87%) and the third-best challenge success rate in the division (64.48%).
