FC Augsburg continue their 2017/18 campaign on Saturday when they face off against Cologne at the WWK ARENA. Newly arrived midfielder Rani Khedira gives his opinions on a few things ahead of the game. On his personal situation: “I’m getting to know the way the club works more and more, and I’m settling in really quickly. I made my first Bundesliga appearance for FCA against Borussia Mönchengladbach and I thought I put in a good shift. I’m confident that I’ll see the pitch more and more over the course of the season. Throughout the international break I put in a lot of effort in training, and I showed the coaches that I’m here and that they can count on me.” On his move from Leipzig to Augsburg: “ The play styles of the two sides are relatively similar. We also tried to win the ball back a lot in Leipzig, so that we could catch our opponents on the break. That similarity made the move easier for me. It’s also very clear however, that there are very different personalities at the two clubs, so I’ve had to integrate as best I can.” [su_quote cite="Rani Khedira"]“I’ve felt at home in Augsburg since day one”[/su_quote] On the competition for places at his position: “I think it’s a good thing that the team has a lot of depth at the defensive midfielder position. That pushes us all in training and makes us all better. We thrive in that situation, and we try to push each other to our limits all the time. It’s good for us as players, and also for the coaches" On his new home: “I’ve felt at home in Augsburg since day one. The city centre is beautiful. My friends and teammates have made it really easy for me to settle here, so the transition has been smooth.” Rani Khedira transferred to FCA from fellow Bundesliga side RB Leipzig this past July.
