After FC Augsburg‘s retro matchday on Saturday, where the club celebrated it’s historical roots and traditions, FCA have turned their attentions towards focusing on the future. FCA’s promising young goalkeeper, Benjamin Leneis, has signed his first professional contract and will hope to be a key part of the club in the near future. The 19 year old, who has already been included in two Bundesliga matchday squads so far this season, has signed a five year deal that will keep him at the club until the 30th June 2023. “Benjamin Leneis has developed brilliantly and made a strong impression on the club during pre-season and the first few weeks of this season. We are convinced that we possess a goalkeeper who will be able to develop further and make the leap up to the Bundesliga,” said FC Augsburg chief executive Stefan Reuther. “I am pleased that the club hierarchy has put their trust in me and see potential for me to develop further at FCA,” said Benjamin Leneis shortly after signing his contract. “The team, the coaching staff and the club hierarchy all provide the younger players with the opportunity to develop their careers. I would like to pay the club back for their trust in me with strong performances in the forthcoming years.”
