November: Home run continues, hard-fought win
2024 Year in Review, part 11
Another year is coming to an end: 12 eventful months of both highs and lows, along with plenty of memorable moments for FC Augsburg. It's time to once more reflect on the past 365 days. In part 11 of FCA's Year in Review, we look back on November.
League action: FCA were able to pick up their first point of the season on their travels on matchday 9. Jess Thorup’s team led in Wolfsburg for a large part of the game after Phillip Tietz’s goal, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the end.
The next weekend saw FCA share the points again as they played out a goalless draw with TSG Hoffenheim at a sold-out WWK ARENA.
The Fuggerstädter’s next game was on a Friday night in nearby Munich. The league leaders won 3-0 in the end despite a dogged performance by FCA.
Augsburg got back to winning ways on matchday 12, grinding out a 1-0 win at home to VfL Bochum. Phillip Tietz got the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. The victory extended FCA’s unbeaten run at home in all competitions to five games.
International duty: November marked the third international break of the season. 10 first-team players were away with their national teams, and Steve Mounié (Benin) and Frank Onyeka (Nigeria) even came up against each other, with the game ending 1-1.
Off the pitch: November marked the annual ‘Fan Club Matchday’. On this special day, official fan clubs once again had the opportunity to spend time with FCA players and participate in a variety of activities organised by the fan clubs themselves.
