Max: “Nürnberg will be a tough clash”
The international break is coming to an end and the preparation for the remaining Bundesliga games is back in full swing. On Saturday, March 30th, Philipp Max and the rest of FCA will be heading to their Bavarian neighbours, FC Nürnberg. They have one clear goal – take all three points.
Augsburg are undefeated in their last three games and want to continue building that streak. Philipp Max and his team want to get important points in the match against bottom side, FC Nürnberg: “It’s a very important game for us. With a win we could increase the gap around the relegation zone.” The players must bring the same mentality that they’ve had in recent weeks into the upcoming games: “We’ve shown that we’re all in this together and that we can go up against every opponent. Nürnberg will be a tough clash, especially since it means so much for the club. They need points to help them in the relegation battle but we’re on a good journey at the moment and of course want to grab the three points.”
After Nürnberg comes Leipzig
On Tuesday the 2nd of April, FC Augsburg face RB Leipzig in the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal. The sides have already met twice in the league, playing out a 0-0 draw both times. On Tuesday, however, there will be a definitive winner. Philipp Max is also looking forward to that game, “It’s my first quarter-final in the DFB-Pokal and we get to play at home in front of our own fans – that’ll be a really special evening. We’ll be playing against a really good team and of course want to give something back to the fans with our performance. However, at the moment, I’m entirely focussed on the game against Nürnberg.
