Internationals: Danso’s first call-up
FCA's Kevin Danso has received his first call-up to the Austrian national team. Five other FC Augsburg players have been called up alongside Danso to play for their respective international sides, meaning that their holiday plans have to be put on hold following their success in avoiding relegation with FC Augsburg.
Martin Hinteregger has been called up for again for the Austrian national team along with Kevin Danso, who has already played 21 times for Austrian youth sides. Austria are set to play Ireland in Dublin for a World Cup qualifier on Sunday, 11th June, in what will prove to be an important game for them.
First take on second in qualifying group I when Iceland and FCA forward Alfred Finnbogason face Croatia on Sunday, 11th June, and a win would mean that Iceland would go level on points with their opponents, that could see them qualify for their first World Cup come 2018.
Dominik Kohr, who agreed to leave FC Augsburg for Leverkusen after the season's end, is with the Germany U21s preparing for the U21 European Championship in Poland. Their first game will come against the Czech Republic on Sunday, 18th June. Stefan Kuntz's side will play against Denmark (Wednesday, 21st June) as well as Italy (Saturday, 24th June) too in their Group C games. The teams who finish top of the three groups, as well as the team that finishes with the best record in second place, qualify directly for the semi-final.
FCA goalkeeper Marwin Hitz is playing for Switzerland on June 1st in a friendly against Belarus.
A friendly also awaits Dong-Won Ji and South Korea, who are trained by German Uli Stielike. His side will play against Iraq on Wednesday, 7th June, before they play against Qatar in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday, 13th June. South Korea are currently in second place in their qualifying group, whilst Qatar are last.
