Gruezo: “I’ll do everything I can for FCA!”
FC Augsburg’s latest signing, Ecuadorian midfielder Carlos Gruezo, has been training with the club since last Saturday. The 24 year-old joined FCA from MLS side FC Dallas and has already experienced life in the Bundesliga. The midfielder spent two years with VfB Stuttgart and learnt German during that time, as he demonstrated in his first interview with his new club.
“Rani Khedira said to me: Carlos, come to Augsburg. And so I did,” grinned Gruezo during his first interview with the Fuggerstädter. Carlos Gruezo and Rani Khedira are former teammates from their time together in Stuttgart. Now, both players are reunited in Augsburg ahead of the 2019/20 Bundesliga season. When asked the question, except for teammates what were the other reasons for choosing to move to Augsburg, the Ecuadorian replied: “I think FC Augsburg is a super team. Here, everyone works together to achieve their aims and this allows the club to achieve huge potential. As soon as my agent heard about the interest from FCA, I wanted to move here.”
After three and a half successful years in the MLS with FC Dallas, Gruezo is back in Germany. The midfielder is especially excited about returning to the Bundesliga. “I had two great years in Stuttgart. Most all, I performed well but unfortunately an injury hindered my progress in my second season.” A torn muscle forced Gruezo to miss three months of action but he has recovered back to full fitness since then. He now wants to contribute to success at his new club. “I always work hard and am constantly striving to improve. I’ll do everything I can for FCA!”
