Gladbach match reaction
FC Augsburg put on an impressive performance to beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-0 at home. Martin Hinteregger scored his first ever Bundesliga goal against his former club. We spoke to the manager and players to get their thoughts on the game.
Daniel Baier: These three points are very important. We were well prepared for the game and although we didn't create a lot of chances, we also managed to not give many away. We were a bit lucky in the end really, but we're pleased to get the win.
Marwin Hitz: "The team worked really hard today to get the three points. Next up, we have a difficult game against Dortmund midweek. It feels great to win, but we can't let that distract us. We have to focus on Tuesday's game.
Martin Hinteregger: This sort of stuff happens all the time. Of all the teams to score your first goal for the club against, it had to be Gladbach. The three points were extremely important for us. A lot has changed over the past three days. We did well to keep a clean sheet against Gladbach.
Paul Verhaegh: It wasn't an easy game for us. In fact, it hasn't been an easy week. However, we proved today that we wanted to get a good result. It's even better that we managed to get three points. Neither team had very many chances, but I'm really pleased for Martin and the rest of the team.
André Schubert: "We controlled the game and didn't concede too many chances. However, we didn't create enough ourselves either. Normally these types of games end up being 0-0, but unfortunately that wasn't the case today, as we gave away a set-piece which went in at the near post. We need to quickly put the game behind us, as we have to prepare for Tuesday's game."
Manuel Baum: "We are obviously absolutely thrilled! It was a tough game, as we expected, because Gladbach were very flexible in their approach. We covered a huge amount of ground, even when Gladbach had us on the back foot. We kept on working hard to win the ball back and create chances going forward."
