FCA sign U21 European champion Finn Dahmen
Contract until 30th June 2026 with option to extend by one year
FC Augsburg have signed goalkeeper Finn Dahmen, with the 25-year-old joining on a free transfer from 1. FSV Mainz 05, where he played for 15 years and made his way through all the youth teams to the first team. Together with Arne Maier, Niklas Dorsch and Mergim Berisha, Dahmen, who also played for all the youth national sides, won the European Championship with the Germany U21s in 2021, playing in all of the games. The player from Wiesbaden has signed a three-year contract until 30th June 2026, which includes the option to extend by another year.
“After a long and enjoyable time in Mainz, I want to take the next step for myself. I want to continue gaining playing experience and establish myself as a number one goalkeeper for a Bundesliga club. The conversations with the management at FC Augsburg and the club’s prospects they showed me were very convincing. That’s why the move feels absolutely right and I’m looking forward to the new challenge in a new environment. I can’t wait to start preparing and to play with the team,” said Finn Dahmen.
“We have been watching Finn Dahmen and his development with interest for some time. When the opportunity arose to convince him to join FCA, we didn’t hold back,” said Stefan Reuter, sporting director at FCA. “Finn Dahmen is a young and ambitious player who fits our vision. He is determined and hungry, but also brings some experience with him. We are convinced of his abilities and are pleased that we were able to win him over to continue his journey with us.”
