FCA relieve Martin Schmidt of his duties
After seven defeats in the last nine games
After the 2-0 defeat to Bayern on Sunday, which was the seventh loss in FCA’s last nine games, Martin Schmidt has been relieved of his duties. His assistant coach Stefan Sartori has also left the club.
“It wasn’t an easy decision for us to make, however after taking just four points from our last nine games, we decided we needed a managerial change. There will always be tough periods in a season, which you need to overcome. At the moment though, we are in danger of not reaching our goal of survival, which is why we came to this decision,” said Stefan Reuter, Augsburg’s sporting director.
“I have accepted the club’s decision and would like to thank them for the chance that I was given here. I hope I have been able to leave my mark here, even if we weren’t very successful recently. The club is always bigger than individuals, so I’d like to wish FCA all the best for the future and hope they can turn things around soon,” said Martin Schmidt.
