FCA and Mizuno present “Roman kit”

“Augusta Vindelicum”

First Team 06.08.2024, 19:07

The 8th of August is a special date in Augsburg for two reasons. Not only does the city celebrate the Hohe Friedensfest on this day, but FC Augsburg was also founded on 8th August 1907 under the name FC Alemannia. FCA, together with supplier Mizuno, have therefore chosen this special date to launch their third kit for the 2024/25 season. This year’s third shirt has been christened the “Roman kit”.

The Bordeaux-coloured jersey, made from recycled polyester, immediately catches the eye with its intricate embossing across the front, combining ancient Roman motifs that can still be seen in Augsburg today together with elements of the club’s badge. The logos of FCA, Mizuno and the club’s sponsors are gold, lending the shirt a stylish touch. There is also gold on the cuffs of the sleeves and on the collar. Every shirt features the club’s founding year 1907 in Roman numerals on the neck and FC Augsburg lettering printed on the back. One particular highlight is the Roman style print for the numbers and names with a matt gloss effect.

Throwback to the city of Augsburg’s foundation

The Roman kit stands for confidence and ambition. It is a throwback to the founding of the city during the Roman Empire under Emperor Augustus and adopts the slogan “Augusta Vindelicum” – the Roman name for the city of Augsburg. A part of the photoshoot took place in a long Romanesque colonnade in Augsburg. The props worn by Phillip Tietz for the shoot were provided by the Staatstheater Augsburg and the city’s Roman Museum.

“The Roman kit is without doubt the centrepiece of this season’s collection and really crowns a great kit line-up. The noble-looking combination of Bordeaux and gold gives the shirt elegance and exclusivity that is sure to shine both on and off the pitch. It symbolises the connection between FC Augsburg and the history of the city of Augsburg and will no doubt be a big hit with both players and fans,” said FCA CEO Michael Ströll.

Available now online – in fan shops from Friday

Fans can purchase the Roman kit online now at shop.fcaugsburg.de. It will be available from Friday at the WWK ARENA fan shop, at the pop-up store in the Augsburg City-Galerie and at the VR-Bank branch on Annastraße. The shirt is available in sizes ranging from S to 3XL, with the women’s edition available in XS to XL. The Roman kit costs €84.95 and the kids’ version (sizes 116 to 164) is priced at €59.95. FCA’s first team will wear the kit for the first time at the Family Day on Saturday, 10th August in the friendly against Olympique Marseille at the WWK Arena (17:00 CEST).
