Thorup: “We can’t allow ourselves to relax”
Focus on Hoffenheim and the coming weeks
There is no Bundesliga football being played this weekend due to the ongoing international break. 10 FCA players are away with their nations, while the rest of the squad are taking the time to train and recharge their batteries. Head coach Jess Thorup talked about…
…the international break: “Going into the break on the back of a victory always feels good. It allows you to be more relaxed as you take a moment to spend time with your family. We’re pleased that things are going well at the moment, for both individual players and the team as a whole.”
…the players on international duty: “Representing their countries means a lot to our players. It’s also recognition of the good work we’re doing as a club. It’s a positive for all involved.”
…training sessions during the break: “Our focus over the past few days has been on the players that are currently here. We have trained well and played an intra-squad friendly.”
…positive coverage on FCA: “My focus is just on our day-to-day work here, which is about developing the team and helping them. It’s great to see positive coverage about FC Augsburg both in the national and international media, but we know we have to keep on working hard. We haven’t won anything yet. We can’t allow ourselves to relax, we have to carry on improving.”
…targets for the remainder of the season: “We’re extremely ambitious, want to win every game and collect as many points as we possibly can. We’ve done really well in recent weeks and months, as evidenced by our position in the table. People talking about qualifying for Europe shows how well we’re doing at the minute, but it’s not something we’re talking about internally. We’re just taking each game as it comes.”
…momentum and FCA’s next opponent: “We’ve built up some real momentum at the moment and believe we can beat every team we play. Our focus now is on Hoffenheim, a team that have played really well at times but have also endured some tricky periods too. It’s important that we continue to develop our play both with and without the ball.”
