The season in numbers: appearances
Top statistics from the 2020/21 season
The 2020/21 season is in the history books and it's a good opportunity to take a look at some of FCA's most impressive statistics. In part one: the most appearances. Topping the list is a new signing who was ever-present in his first season.
In his debut season at FCA, Rafał Gikiewicz was between the sticks for all 90 minutes in each of the 34 Bundesliga games. The 33-year-old goalkeeper is the only FCA player to not have missed a single minute of action, and is one of only six players in the whole league to have been on the pitch for all 3,060 minutes of the season.
In Daniel Caligiuri, another new signing comes in second place. The midfielder played 33 games (2,665 minutes) and only missed the away trip to Eintracht Frankfurt through suspension. The 33-year-old was in the starting eleven for 31 games and was replaced nine times.
The top three is rounded off by captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, who played 32 games (2,835 minutes). Each of the 29-year-old's appearances came from the starting XI and the centre back was only substituted once. He missed the home game against VfB Stuttgart through suspension and was an unused substitute at home to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Ruben Vargas, in his second season at FCA, came in fourth place with 30 appearances (1,611 minutes). 18 of these were as a starter, the 22-year-old being subbed off twelve times.
Four players - Felix Uduokhai, Tobias Strobl, Marco Richter and André Hahn - made 29 appearances. The most minutes were recorded by Uduokhai (2,610) by some way, the defender playing all 90 minutes in each of his appearances. The 23-year-old centre-back missed the end of the season due to an ankle operation.
