Stefan Reuter: “A certain amount of competition is good”
FC Augsburg will begin their preparations for the new season on 1st July. Sporting director Stefan Reuter looks ahead to the upcoming preseason and also gives his thoughts on the current World Cup in Russia. Reuter spoke on Tuesday about...
... the current transfer situation: “We’re happy to have brought the players in that we have done. You always question whether things will pan out as you plan them to, but with André Hahn we’ve managed to bring back a player that had a brilliant run here. His power and dynamic ability fits our style perfectly. I’m convinced that he will be able to find his old form again. He can play in a variety of positions, much like Julian Schieber and Felix Götze. Those three will help us to be more versatile.”
... the preparation for next season: “We are going to be heading to Mals - a place which we know very well after having already held two training camps there in the past. We won’t have our international players with us at first, because they will be either having some time off or still be at the World Cup. Nevertheless, we will have a lot of players with us with which we can start to get to work with. After our second training camp comes to an end at the end of July, we will have a friendly in Newcastle.”
... the return of loaned-out players: “Every player has the chance to play for this team. We saw last season that a certain amount of competition is good. We have a large squad, but that’s not something we get too caught up with. One or two might take that into consideration, but we will always be open for negotiations. We have a relatively long offseason in which we have enough time to talk with one another.”
... the Germany national team: “I hope that the boys manage to get back on track and show a different side against Sweden. I still believe that they can defend their title. The players have a lot of quality and I still love following Germany.”
