Six FCA players on international duty
Six FC Augsburg players have received call ups to their national teams for the upcoming international break. Among the players in action during the break in Bundesliga action is Felix Götze, who has received his first call up for the Germany U20s squad.
Martin Hinteregger and Michael Gregoritsch will return to the Austria squad this week ahead of their UEFA Nations League match against Northern Ireland in Vienna on Friday, 12th October. Austria will be looking to respond to a disappointing defeat against Bosnia and Herzegovina in their opening Nations League match. In League B, Bosnia are top of Group 3 with six points from their opening two games with Northern Ireland and Austria looking for their first points of the competition. Following this match, Austria will travel to Denmark for a friendly on Tuesday, 16th October.
After scoring four goals in his first two matches since returning from injury, Alfred Finnbogason returns to the Iceland squad for the first time since the World Cup. After two defeats in their two opening Nations League matches, Iceland will attempt to return to winning ways in Group 2 of League A at home to Switzerland on Monday, 15th October. Before this Nations League clash, Finnbogason and his Iceland teammates will travel to France to take on the world champions in a friendly on Thursday, 11th October.
Sergio Córdova has received a call up to the Venezuela squad for their two friendlies in this international break. FCA’s young striker will hope to feature against the Basque Country on Friday, 12th October and against the United Arab Emirates in Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium on Tuesday, 16th October.
Kevin Danso is in the Austria U21s squad for their two U21 European Championship qualifiers away in Serbia (Friday, 12th October) and at home to Russia (Tuesday, 16th October). Austria require two victories in these matches to give themselves a chance at qualifying through the play-offs as one of the best four runners-up across the nine groups.
Felix Götze has received his first call up to represent Germany U20s in their two friendlies against the Netherlands in Meppen (Friday, 12th October) and against Switzerland in Emden (Tuesday, 16th October). Previously, Götze has made an appearance for the Germany U19s at the European Championship in 2017.
