Pre-season training camp tournament in South Africa

FC Augsburg will be travelling to South Africa for a pre-season training camp from 18th to 28th July, as part of their preparations for the 2024/25 season. During their stay in the province of Mpumalanga, the team will take part in several training sessions, as well as two highly-anticipated matches as part of the Mpumalanga Premier's International Cup. 

Jess Thorup's side will face Tanzania's record champions (22 titles) and 12-time CAF Champions League participants, Young Africans SC, on Saturday, 20th July (15:00 SAST). A week later, FCA will come up against South African first-division side TS Galaxy, hosts of the Mpumalanga Premier's International Cup, on Saturday, 27th July (15:00 SAST). TS Galaxy will also face off against Eswatini's Mbabane Swallows FC the weekend prior, on 20th July (20:00 SAST). All the matches will be played at the Mbombela Stadium. 

"We are very much looking forward to our first training camp in South Africa. Our priority while in Mpumalanga will be to prepare ourselves for the upcoming season. We will come up against two exciting teams from Africa as part of the Mpumalanga Premier's International Cup, with both games being held in one of the host venues from the 2010 World Cup. A special highlight for us will be facing off against our hosts, TS Galaxy," said FCA CEO Michael Ströll.

Pre-sale has already started

The ticket pre-sale for the Mpumalanga Premier's International Cup has already begun. Tickets for both matches on 20th July can be purchased online under TS Galaxy FC Inaugural Mpumalanga Premier`s International Tournament (computicket.com). Social responsibility a priority for FCA 

For the first time, FCA are set to travel outside of Europe for the purposes of hosting their pre-season training camp. As part of their stay, the team will take part in a variety of activities, which also includes a visit to Kruger National Park. While at pre-season training camp in South Africa, the implementation and support of sustainability measures and social activities remains a priority for FCA. This includes offsetting the emissions produced by the trip. Further detailed information will follow.
