Koo bids farewell to FCA after five years

Five years on from Ja-Cheol Koo’s first appearance in the FCA strip, the South Korean is leaving to join Al-Gharafa Doha in Qatar. Koo has said a fond farewell to the Augsburg fans. “I am grateful and happy to have had you behind me every week,” said Ja-Cheol Koo on his Instagram page. “Your huge support and loud singing in the stadium has been awesome. I am incredibly proud of you and proud that I have been able to call myself an Augsburg player. Unfortunately, from this season I won’t be with you anymore but I can tell you that my heart will always be with FCA”. Koo first came to Augsburg in winter 2012 and stayed for a year-and-a-half. Following loan spells at VFL Wolfsburg and 1. FSV Mainz 05 the midfield maestro returned in summer 2015 and once again donned the red, green and white of FCA, this time for a four –year stint. Koo played 155 games overall, in which he scored 23 goals. Only six players have made more appearances for FCA. Koo’s contract with FC Augsburg expired on 30th June 2019 and now the South Korean has joined a new club in Qatar.

Liebe Fca Fans ! Nun habe ich fast 6 Jahre für fca gespielt und war und bin heute immer dankbar und glücklich , Euch jede Woche hinter mir zu haben ! Es war eine große Unterstützung im Stadion und Euer lautes Singen ein geiles Gefühl ! Dafür möchte ich Euch Danke sagen und bin sehr stolz auf Euch und auch auf mich , dass ich ein fca Spieler war. Leider bin ich ab dieser Saison nicht mehr da, habe in Qatar für @algharafaclub unterschrieben. Aber ich sage Euch, mein Herz wird immer für fca schlagen. Ich bedanke mich auch bei meinen Mitspielern und Mitarbeitern, Ihr seid meine Freunde und es war immer alles sehr emotional! All dies werde ich bis zu meinem Tod nicht vergessen ! Leider kann ich mich nicht persönlich von Euch verabschieden , aber eines Tages möchte ich wieder nach Augsburg Euch alle in der Wwk Arena besuchen kommen ! ich wünsche euch alles gut ! Vielen Dank !
