Mixed results for FCA players on international duty
Several Augsburg players started for their countries during the international break. Five played at the weekend, with some participating in European Championship qualifiers.
Andorra 0-2 Iceland
Iceland took their first step towards Euro 2020 with a win over Andorra. Their goals were scored by Birkir Bjarnason and Viðar Kjartansson, who replaced Alfred Finnbogason in the 70th minute. Iceland currently occupy second place in Group H, ahead of their next game against world champions France on Monday, 25th March.
Italy 2-0 Finland
Fredrik Jensen and Finland failed to take any points in Italy, and thus sit second-bottom of Group J. The Azzurri took the lead after seven minutes and added a second in the 74th. Finland next face Armenia on Tuesday, 26th March.
France U18s 2-1 Germany U18s
Simon Asta and his Germany side lost again to France U18s. Lucas De Cunha scored twice to win the game, after Oscar Schönfelder had scored for Germany (55’).
Argentina 1-3 Venezuela
Sergio Córdova’s Venezuela side defeated Argentina in a friendly match held in Madrid. Salomón Rondón (6’), Jhon Murillo (44’) und Lautaro Martínez (75’) scored their goals against Lionel Messi’s Argentina. A second friendly game will take place on Monday against Catalonia.
South Korea 1-0 Bolivia
Dong-Won Ji was also on the winning side at the weekend. VfL Bochum’s Lee Chung-Yong scored the winner in the 86th minute. Ji was taken off in the 63rd minute. Their next fixture is against Colombia on Tuesday, 26th March.
