Kevin Danso loaned to Southampton
Shortly before the English transfer deadline, FC Augsburg allowed defender Kevin Danso to make the move to the Premier League. The Austrian U21s international, who has a contract with FCA until 2024, will join Southampton on a season-long loan. Both clubs have agreed to keep details of the deal undisclosed.
“I am grateful to FCA and all those responsible for allowing me to take this step. I grew up in England between the ages of six and 15, so playing in the Premier League has always been a dream for me. It's great to have it fulfilled", says Kevin Danso.
“We hold Kevin Danso in such high regard. When the official offer came in from Southampton though, we sat down with Kevin, his agent and an official from Southampton and we found a solution which satisfied all parties. We wish Kevin every success in England”, said Stefan Reuter, Augsburg’s sporting director.
The 20-year-old has 41 Bundesliga appearances to his name so far, scoring 3 goals. His debut came as an 18-year-old in 2017 during a 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig whose head coach at the time was of course Ralph Hasenhüttl, the current manager of Southampton.
