Herrlich: "We will try to take all three points"
FCA want to take their chance in Frankfurt
On Tuesday night (20 April, 20:30 CEST kick-off), FC Augsburg are in action away to Frankfurt. FCA head coach Heiko Herrlich is aware that Eintracht will be giving their all to recover from the 4-0 defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach, but wants to see his team take their chances and return home with as many points as possible in the bag.
The side will undergo some personnel changes compared to the last game against Bielefeld. Daniel Caligiuri and Rani Khedira received their fifth yellow card of the season and will both serve their suspension against Frankfurt. Jeffrey Gouweleeuw was taken off at half time against Arminia and it remains uncertain whether he can feature on Tuesday. Aside from that, Heiko Herrlich has all other players at his disposal. Given the tight schedule (three games in seven days) and the fact that several players returning to action are a little out of practice, Herrlich is considering further rotations.
Herrlich: "I will keep trying everything to help us improve"
Herrlich was not entirely pleased with his team’s performance against Bielefeld. "Things that often work really well at training aren’t quite being put into practice in the games," said the 49-year-old. "We need to show more courage going forward. We did so in the second half against Bielefeld, but the first half wasn’t good – we definitely need to improve there," he summarised. The head coach remains optimistic, however: " We’ve fought hard for our 33 points. We accept all the criticism and will continue to work hard. I will keep trying everything to help us improve."
On Tuesday FC Augsburg take on Eintracht Frankfurt, who have won eleven of their 16 games in 2021 (three draws, two defeats) – a "very good return," as Herrlich put it. Eintracht are currently fourth in the table with 53 points. "I’m expecting them to want to show a reaction after their 4-0 defeat against Gladbach and consolidate their position in the top four," said Herrlich. "We need to focus on our own game, on what we do well. And we need to do that again. We only have a small chance, but we will try to take all three points."
