Herrlich: "A mature performance and a deserved point."
With their 1-1 draw against Fortuna Düsseldorf, FCA secured Bundesliga survival with a game in hand. “Now the boys can take a breather for two days, they deserve it after the double gameweek,” said head coach Heiko Herrlich. The full post-match reactions are below.
Andreas Luthe: "We knew what to expect. It was a really intense game with a lot of long balls. We defended well and caused them problems. Flo scored a sensational goal, and we were good at the back. We're really happy that we're staying up. We have a tough week behind us, worked hard and did it as a team."
Jeffrey Gouweleeuw: "We're really happy that we've reached our goal. That was the most important thing for us. It was all in our hands for this game and we did well. We played well, fought hard and were the better of the two teams. A point is deserved."
Florian Niederlechner: "It's not been an easy season, we especially had difficulty at the start. We've made life difficult for ourselves in the Rückrunde as well, but thanks to our great mentality we've managed to secure our safety in this league. Finally the pressure is off. In today's game I thought we were much the better team after the break and we had the better of the chances."
Philipp Max: “We’re really happy we’ve managed to stay in the division. We controlled the game well, especially in the second half. Overall, it wasn’t easy in the coronavirus period, but we can be proud that we’ve managed to stay up. The only bad thing is that no fans were there.”
Heiko Herrlich: "We reached our main aim today. It was a mature performance. We had the better chances so we deserved the point. The season isn't over yet though. We've got one more game and we can climb a few places in the table with a win. The lads can rest for two days - they've earned it after the busy week."
Uwe Rösler: "Congratulations to FC Augsburg on securing their safety. We lost some confidence after their goal as well as when ours was ruled out. Augsburg ran a lot today; we were lacking some freshness. Nevertheless, we've improved our situation and we can show what we're about in Berlin again."
