Florian Niederlechner joins Hertha BSC with immediate effect
Striker featured in 107 competitive games for FCA
Florian Niederlechner has joined Hertha BSC with immediate effect. The striker had been at FCA since July 2019 and featured in 107 competitive games for the club.
Niederlechner had previously decided to join the Berlin-based club on a two-year deal in the summer, with his contract at FCA set to expire then. Over the winter break, FCA brought in several reinforcements in attack and the two parties then agreed to push the move forward. Details of the contract will remain undisclosed.
“Florian Niederlechner wanted to be able to provide a plan for both himself and his family, so it was his right to decide in favour of another club that offered a longer-term perspective. Since a move to an immediate competitor is always something unique, I wanted to speak to Florian directly. We arrived at the mutual decision that we would agree to the move now, if we were able to find a fitting solution for all parties. That has now happened,” said sporting director Stefan Reuter. “We would like to thank Florian Niederlechner for his efforts at FCA and wish him all the best, and that we will be able to meet again in the Bundesliga in the coming years.”
“I spent a lot of time thinking about it during training camp and felt that it would be difficult for me to play in the second half of the season, given the competition in the squad. I had a great time at FCA, but I wanted to take this opportunity to sign a long-term contract with Hertha BSC. I would like to thank all the fans for their support over the last years, as well as the club’s management for agreeing to make this move possible,” said Niederlechner.
