FCA to host Werder Bremen on opening weekend of the season
Three home games in first four matchdays
On Thursday afternoon, the German Football League (DFL) released the fixture list for the 2024/25 Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga seasons. FC Augsburg’s 14th consecutive season in the German top flight will start with a home match against Werder Bremen.
The Fuggerstädter’s first away day of the season will take them to Heidenheim, before two more home games at the WWK Arena against Bundesliga new boys St. Pauli and a resurgent Mainz 05. “We’re delighted to kick things off by playing at home. Starting with three home games out of four is a really unique situation. We will put in the hard yards to get the season off to a good start,” said Augsburg head coach Jess Thorup. The season will end with a home fixture, too – FCA’s final-day opponents will be Union Berlin, who narrowly avoided relegation last campaign.
