FC Augsburg had an experience they will never forget when they visited a primary and secondary school in Mbombela. Over 400 pupils gathered on the school grounds to give the FCA visitors an emphatic welcome.
The players and coaching staff led several activities with the classes to the delight of the kids, with everyone involved enjoying themselves. While Steve Mounié and Felix Uduokhai performed dance routines, Arne Maier, Niklas Dorsch and Co. played some football with the kids.
“It was amazing to see the happiness on the kids’ faces. It was a special experience for our players too. This kind of event reminds us why we’re here,” said FCA CEO Michael Ströll, who even shed a tear.
Phillip Tietz was also enthusiastic. “This school visit was just great. The kids’ excitement makes it all worth it.” Elvis Rexhbecaj, who carried three children across the pitch, added: “These kinds of moments are priceless and show that football’s more than just a game.”
FCA still had a surprise up their sleeve as they rounded off an emotional morning. Every pupil was invited to the Fuggerstädter’s game against TS Galaxy on Saturday (15:00 CEST).
