FCA sign Nathanaël Mbuku from Stade de Reims
Attacker signs on a four-and-a-half year deal
With the transfer window soon set to close, FC Augsburg have secured the services of Nathanaël Mbuku – the club’s sixth winter signing this season. The 20-year-old attacker has moved through the ranks of France’s national youth sides, and joins from Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims.
Mbuku has amassed 80 career appearances in Ligue 1 (6 goals, 3 assists) and belongs to the U20 players with the most appearances across Europe’s top five leagues. The winger has signed on a four-and-a-half year deal running until 30th June 2027.
“After several successful years in which I was able to collect plenty of match practice, it’s time for me to take the next step. Many French players manage to break through in the Bundesliga and I want to continue to work hard to develop as a player. My discussions with the FCA management were what convinced me, because FCA play very attractive, attacking football. I can’t wait to be on the pitch with my new teammates,” said Mbuku.
“We had previously thought to bring Nathanaël Mbuku in during the coming summer, but when we had the chance to get the transfer over the line now, we decide to take advantage,” said sporting director Stefan Reuter. “Nathanaël Mbuku is a quick and skilled attacker, who despite his young age has been a regular starter in Ligue 1 for two seasons now. FCA fans can look forward to an exciting young player over the next years, and we will give him the time he needs to settle into the Bundesliga.”
