FCA sign Ermedin Demirović
24-year-old signs a contract valid until 2026
FC Augsburg have secured the services of striker Ermedin Demirović from SC Freiburg. The 24-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international has signed a four-year deal with FCA. Michael Gregoritsch has moved the other way at the same time. Both clubs have agreed to not disclose the transfer details.
“We’re delighted that Ermedin Demirović has chosen to join FCA because he believes this is the best place for a young player to develop. The 15 goals he had a hand in in the Bundesliga last season are just one indication of the potential he has and should continue to fulfil here at FCA,” said sporting director Stefan Reuter.
“FCA have a great setup and a young team with lots of potential, which is why I’m now happy to be here in Augsburg. It’s great that we are now travelling to our training camp together. This will give me time to get to know everyone here and to settle in as quickly as I can. I’m really excited to play for FC Augsburg and with my new team,” commented Ermedin Demirović.
Gregoritsch joins SC Freiburg
28-year-old Michael Gregoritsch has gone the other way to SC Freiburg. Stefan Reuter stated: “Michael Gregoritsch told us that he would like to move to Freiburg because the overall package there was really exciting for him as an experienced player. This definitely wasn’t your normal scenario, but we think this move is a win-win situation for all involved.”
“We had some open and constructive discussions that made this move possible. I’m grateful to the FCA bosses for that. I had a nice time in Augsburg, but this a chance for me to write a new chapter in my career. I’ll be back at the WWK Arena very soon and I’ll get the chance to say goodbye to the fans then. Augsburg became a second home to me and my family over the last five years,” said Michael Gregoritsch.
FC Augsburg will host SC Freiburg on the first matchday of the new season on Saturday, 6th August (15:30 CEST) at the WWK Arena. Both players could therefore make their debuts against their old sides.
