FCA sign Belgian midfield talent Arne Engels
Engels signs four and half year deal with FCA.
At the start of the winter transfer period, FCA have signed Arne Engels, a nine-time Belgium U19 international. The midfielder arrives from the Belgian second division club NXT, which is part of FC Bruges’ youth academy.
This season, the 19-year-old has made 15 appearances (two goals, six assists) in the Challenger Pro League and five appearances (two assists) in the UEFA Youth League. After completing his medical, Engels signed a four-and-a-half-year contract until 30 June 2027 on Tuesday. The Belgian will travel to the training camp in Algorfa, Spain, and will be joining the Augsburg squad as early as Wednesday.

"I am very happy with the move to Augsburg. FCA is an established Bundesliga club and offers me brilliant conditions to develop in the best possible way. The fact that I can now go straight to the training camp in Spain will certainly help me to get to know my new team-mates quickly and to internalize the system of play," said Arne Engels, who will wear number 27 for the club.
"Arne Engels is a highly talented midfielder who has qualities both on and off the ball. He is a very ambitious guy who wants to develop further and has consciously chosen FCA to take the next step in his career here. We want to give him the necessary time to do that and introduce him to the Bundesliga because we absolutely believe in his ability," said Stefan Reuter, FCA's managing director of sport.
Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the specifics of the transfer.
