FCA say goodbye to Ji, Janker and Callsen-Bracker
Ahead of their final home match of the season against Hertha BSC, FC Augsburg have said goodbye to three players who will leave at the end of the season. Dong-Won Ji, Christoph Janker and Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker will all leave the Fuggerstädter at the end of the season.
FC Augsburg president Klaus Hofmann and sporting director Stefan Reuter presented the trio with a Marionette from the world famous Augsburger Puppenkiste to thank them for their services to the club. All three players have contracts which expire at the end of the season and won’t be renewed. The trio will leave Augsburg to move on to pastures new for next season.
“We would like to sincerely thank Dong-Won, Christoph and Jan-Ingwer for their incredible dedication to FC Augsburg over the course of the last few years. They have contributed greatly to our successes in recent years and the reason why FC Augsburg will be playing Bundesliga football for the ninth consecutive season next year,” said club president Klaus Hofmann.
Stefan Reuter added: “We have achieved some incredible things on this journey together. Our participation in the Europa League three seasons ago was certainly one of the highlights, especially the trip to Anfield. We will always look back on these three players with very fond memories. We wish all three of them all the best of luck for the future.”
Dong-Won Ji has made 124 FCA appearances and scored 16 goals. In our Europa League campaign in the 2015/16 season, the Korean featured in six of our eight matches as Augsburg reached the round of 32. Ji will join fellow Bundesliga side 1. FSV Mainz 05 for next season.

Callsen-Bracker started the promotion clinching 2-1 victory against FSV Frankfurt. The versatile defensive player suffered a nasty injury during FCA’s last-gasp victory away against Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League and has fought his way back to fitness in recent seasons. The centre-back has made 150 clin appearances and scored 13 goals.
Christoph Janker joined Augsburg from Hertha BSC in January 2015 and went on to make 44 appperances for the club. Janker also featured in five of FCA’s eight Europa League matches.
