FCA return to training
Hoffenheim friendly scheduled
After a short Christmas break, FC Augsburg began preparing for the second half of the Bundesliga season on Tuesday. After following individual training regimes for the past couple of weeks, the FCA players had the ball back at their feet as they got back into the swing of things on the training pitches at the WWK Arena. A number of performance tests had been scheduled in advance.
Mads Pedersen wasn’t present, as he had to have an operation on his ankle after injuring it in FCA’s last game of 2023. Tomáš Koubek has also had elbow surgery. Over the coming days, both will do rehabilitative work, as well as individual training, before they’re integrated back into the team. Irvin Cardona was also allowed to miss out on the training session to enter contract talks with another club, while Frederik Winther was ill.
Jess Thorup was very happy after the first training session of the year. “I was very impressed. The players look fit and ready to play. That’s exactly what we need, though, since we’ve not got much time before our first game of the year.”
Friendly against Hoffenheim
Exactly a week before FCA kick off the second half of their Bundesliga campaign against league leaders Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Saturday, 13th January, 15:30 CET), they will host TSG Hoffenheim for a friendly at the WWK ARENA. The game will kick off at 13:00 CET and fans will be able to attend, with blocks S, T and U open to spectators. All other blocks will remain closed.
