It’s time to get to work! FC Augsburg began their pre-season training camp in Mpumalanga with their first training session on Friday night.

After a short session working on stability, the FCA players trained for the first time in the afternoon at the grounds of the ANEW Resort White River. Lots of work had been carried out to get things ready for FC Augsburg’s team, with the club’s visual present on advertising boards around the pitch. Aside from Nediljko Labrović and Kristijan Jakić, who haven’t yet been able to travel to South Africa due to technical issues, all players were available.

The group included Finn Dahmen, who returned to the pitch for an individual training session. The first session in South Africa lasted almost two hours and consisted of a lot of games with overloads. FCA’s first game during the trip is on Saturday as part of the Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup. The opponents are Tanzania’s record champions Young Africans SC. Kick off at the Mbombela-Stadion will be at 15:00 CEST, highlights of the game can be seen on FCA TV afterwards.

Lots of media interest

A number of African journalists and TV channels turned up to speak to the players after the training session. New signings Samuel Essende and Steve Mounié, as well as Felix Uduokhai, Patric Pfeiffer and head coach Jess Thorup, were all available for the media.
