Arne Maier is staying at FC Augsburg! The 25-year-old midfielder, who joined FCA at the start of the 2021/22 season, has played 85 times so far for the club in all competitions, scoring nine goals and recording 12 assists. Maier has now signed a one-year extension to his contract, with his deal now valid until 30th June 2026.

Arne Maier, who, together with Finn Dahmen and Niklas Dorsch, won the U21 European Championship back in 2021 with Germany, played 22 times last season. The Ludwigsfelde-born midfielder played an important role in the second half of the season, starting 10 of the last 11 games of the campaign and scoring two goals and recording three assists during this period.

“Has shown how valuable his qualities are to FCA”

“Our discussions were always really positive, so extending my contract at FC Augsburg was an easy decision for me in the end. The club and I have a clear plan, and I want to take on more responsibility in the future, as well as lead from the front with my performances. Our journey together is not over yet and I’m looking forward to all that’s yet to come,” said Arne Maier.

“Arne has been an important performer in our team for three years now. He showed how valuable his qualities are to FCA particularly in the last three months. We’re therefore really pleased that we’ll continue to work together towards achieving our joint goals,” commented sporting director Marinko Jurendic.
