The Icelander was also invited to the podium when he finished in second place in the Sportsman of the Year category, which was won by Augsburg-born canoeist Sideris Tasiadis. “I’m absolutely delighted I’ve been chosen to receive this award, but, as a part of the team, it also makes me proud that we’ve been named Team of the Year,” said Finnbogason after the announcement. Club general manger Stefan Reuter was also delighted with the award: “The team work hard every day and it’s a recognition of the an entire club’s efforts when you receive an award for Team of the Year.”
