Danso: “The best Christmas present I can hope for is all three points”
FC Augsburg host VfL Wolfsburg in their final match of 2018 in the WWK ARENA on Sunday, 23rd December (15:30 CET). FCA want to end the year in style and give themselves momentum for the second half of the season in 2019.
Head coach Manuel Baum is motivated to end the year on a high when his FC Augsburg side host VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday. “We want to reward ourselves with victory. I miss seeing the WWK ARENA lit up with green lights after a victory. These three points will be important for the players, the fans and the club. We will do everything to achieve this.”
FCA defender Kevin Danso made his first start of the season last time out in Berlin against Hertha BSC. This was an important moment for the 20 year old. “I was quite nervous before the match. However, once the match started, I was only thinking about the match. You think about the task at hand and nerves suddenly disappear. I want to secure all three points on Sunday against the Wolves ahead of Christmas.”
The visitors from Wolfsburg arrive in Augsburg with a lot of confidence. The Wolves have won four of their last five matches and Baum knows the qualities FCA’s opponents possess: “The Wolfsburg is very good just like last year. They have become more tactically flexible this year. They tend to play with two strikers which can put opponents off.” Kevin Danso agrees: “Wolfsburg have two very good strikers. We will defend with everything we have. Our aim is to keep a clean sheet.”
