Beljo receives first call-up for Croatia’s senior team
UEFA Nations League, then U21 Euros
FCA striker Dion Beljo has been called up for Croatia’s senior team for the first time in his career. They will face the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals on Wednesday, 14th June (20:45 CEST).
Beljo has been selected as a replacement for centre-back Joško Gvardiol, who has left camp with an injury. “It’s an honour for me to be called up to the national team. The Nations League is a big competition,” said the 21-year-old, who took part in team training last week.
Croatia are looking to book their place in the final, which will be played in Rotterdam on Sunday, 18th June (20:45 CEST). The winners of the tournament are guaranteed a place at EURO 2024 in Germany next summer. The losing semi-finalists will play a third place play-off also on Sunday (18:00 CEST).
Beljo’s summer will continue after the Nations League. He is in Croatia’s squad for the U21 European Championships in Romania and Georgia, alongside teammate David Čolina.
