Baier, Gouweleeuw and Danso sign contract extensions
Three FC Augsburg players have signed contract extensions to extend their time at the club. Daniel Baier, Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Kevin Danso have all put pen to paper to sign contract extensions.
Just a day after a new ten year deal was signed with main sponsors WWK, who also have the naming rights to FC Augsburg’s stadium, the club have announced that three FCA players have signed contract extensions.
Ahead of the first Bundesliga match of 2019 at home to Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday (15:30 CET), FC Augsburg are delighted to announce that captain Daniel Baier, Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Kevin Danso have all agreed to extend their time at the club. Baier, who has spent more than ten years at the club, has signed a new deal which runs until 2020.
Gouweleeuw joined FCA from AZ Alkmaar in January 2016. The 27 year-old Dutchman has signed a deal that will keep him at the club until 30th June 2024. Kevin Danso has also signed a new five-and-a-half year deal. The 20 year-old Austrian, who graduated from the Augsburg academy into the first team.
“It is a clear sign that all three players see their future at FC Augsburg,” said a delighted Stefan Reuter, FC Augsburg’s sporting director. “It also shows how attached they are to Augsburg as a club.”
“I had already suggested during our training camp that I could quickly sign a new contract. This is because FC Augsburg is my club. I’m excited to wear the Augsburg kit for another season and I hope to celebrate more victories with the fans,” said Baier. The FCA captain has made more than 300 appearances for the club.
“We are currently in a tricky situation but we will overcome the difficulties. I am sure of what we can achieve as a club. Consequently, I would like to help achieve more success with the team over the next five-and-a-half years,” said Gouweleeuw regarding his contract extension.
“FC Augsburg gave me the chance to become a Bundesliga player. Of course I would’ve liked to have played more in the first half of the season, but I am sure that FC Augsburg is the right club for me. I would like to develop further with FCA over the forthcoming years,” said Danso. The Austrian U21 international has signed a contract until 2024.
