Six Augsburg players jetting off
The first international break of 2022 is upon us. A total of six Augsburg players will be in action for their national teams in the days to come.
One of those chosen for his country is the Austrian Michael Gregoritsch, who will be in action in the World Cup qualifying playoffs against Wales (Thursday, 24th March). Should Austria win that semi-final, they will move on to face the winner of Scotland against Ukraine in summer. Carlos Gruezo is also looking to secure passage to the World Cup later this year. His Ecuador team travel to Panama (Thursday, 24th March) before a tricky fixture at home to Argentina a few days later (Tuesday, 29th March).
Ricardo Pepi has been selected for the USA as they play away in Mexico (Thursday, 24th March) and at home to Panama (Sunday, 27th March). Pepi will have three fixtures in quick succession during the international break as the USMNT then takes on Costa Rica on Wednesday, 30th March.
There are two friendly matches on the program for Ruben Vargas and Andi Zeqiri. The Swiss will take on England at Wembley (Saturday, 26th March) before heading back to Zürich to play Kosovo (Tuesday, 29th March).
Frederik Winter is in the Denmark U21 squad for their European Championship qualifier against Belgium (Tuesday, 29th March). Lasse Günther had been selected for the Germany U19 side but is now unable to travel due to a case of COVID-19. Germany will face Italy, Belgium and Finland in the UEFA elite round with all three games to be played in Helsinki.
