Away victory in Ingolstadt

FC Augsburg came out on top in the Bavarian derby against FC Ingolstadt. The Fuggerstädter secured victory through two late goals from Raul Bobadilla and Halil Altintop to make it 2-0 to Augsburg. FCA head coach Dirk Schuster made two changes to the side that lost 3-1 to FC Bayern Munich one week ago, bringing in Philipp Max for Gojko Kacar, and choosing Dominik Kohr in favour of Halil Altintop. The derby was a particularly special occasion for Daniel Baier and Marwin Hitz. Baier was making his 200th Bundesliga appearance while this was the 100th game that Hitz has played in the Bundesliga. The away side started with the majority of the possession and tried to get the ball up the Ingolstadt end straight from the kick-off. Dong-Won Ji beat two Ingolstadt players in the eighth minute but then failed to beat Martin Hansen with a low shot from eleven yards out. At the other end, FC Ingolstadt had their first opportunity of the game as Stefan Lex shot from 20 metres out but it landed straight in the arms of Marwin Hitz. FCA controlled the match while the hosts were searching for some defensive stability and barely threatened going forward. The ball fell to Domink Kohr after a throw-in from captain Paul Verhaegh and Kohr tried his like with a half-volley from 17 metres out. He struck it cleanly and with power but was unlucky to miss as his strike clattered off the crossbar. Konstantinos Stafylidis then tried his luck with a long-range effort from 40 metres and Hansen was forced into a fine save to keep it out. It was Hitz's turn to be in action shortly afterwards though, as Almog Cohen let loose from 17 metres but the FCA keeper was comfortably there to meet it. Ingolstadt were fortunate not to go behind in the 33rd minute when a cross from Ji into the middle found Philipp Max, who was standing completely free in front of goal but could not find the target with his header. Pascal Groß however picked out Mathew Leckie on the right side of the penalty area, who hit it towards the top corner but it posed no problems for Hitz once again. Ja-Cheol Koo tried a volley shortly before the break after a corner from Ji but it flew just wide of the post. The two teams went into the dressing rooms with the match goalless at half time. FCA started the second half better than their opponents and a dangerous shot by Koo from 19 metres out was deflected past the post. The home side then started to get into the game and looked most dangerous on the counterattack in what was becoming a very open and tense match. Koo played it to Ji in the 68th minute and the South Korean again forced Hansen into a strong save with his strike from the left-hand side of the box. Roger had a good opportunity for the hosts in the 72nd minute but Hitz comfortably saved his effort from 29 metres out. Raul Bobadilla made his comeback ten minutes before the end after being out with a shoulder injury. It proved to be an inspired substitution from Dirk Schuster as the Argentine curled in a fine free-kick past the Ingolstadt keeper to give Augsburg the lead with just four minutes of normal time remaining. Another FCA substitute Halil Altintop then made victory certain for FCA as he smashed home into an empty net in the 90th minute.
