Uduokhai: "Massively disappointed“
Reaction to the defeat in Bochum
FC Augsburg left Bochum empty-handed on Saturday afternoon following a 3-2 defeat. Here is the post-match reaction.
Arne Maier: “We wasted a chance to secure safety today, mainly down to our bad starts to each half. We fought back after going 1-0 down and were pushing for another goal after equalising. Their two deflected goals after the break ultimately decided the game. We got one back, but it wasn’t enough in the end.”
Jeffrey Gouweleeuw: “We found our way back into the game after going behind early on and enjoyed a good period after equalising. Their two goals after the break were massively unlucky, they weren’t even from actual chances. Things are tight again now after we wasted a big chance today. Every goal and point is important. We all know that we need more points. We’ve got Dortmund up next and it’s an important game for both sides.”
Felix Uduokhai: “Today was a chance for us to secure our place in the Bundesliga next season, so we’re massively disappointed after the game. Bochum got stuck in more and that helped them earn all three points. We’re sorry for the away fans, but we’ll now do all we can to beat Dortmund at home next Sunday.”
Ermedin Demirović: “We didn’t get stuck in enough in the second half and Bochum were also one step ahead of us. We’re frustrated, but we know we’ve got two games left and we want to win both of them.”
Enrico Maaßen: “We’re frustrated with this defeat. We simply weren’t good enough today. Bochum got the better of us in the key moments and that’s why they deserved to win, even if their goals were somewhat fortuitous. It’s always going to be hard to get anything when you concede three goals like that. We should have defended better for all of them. We now need to pick the team up, assess this game and then prepare for BVB.”
Thomas Letsch: “We started brilliantly and everybody in the stadium could see how desperate we were to win the game. We were more active than them and won a lot of our challenges. We also had luck on our side and are delighted with the three points. We want to make sure we finish outside of the relegation zone.”
