At the beginning of November, FC Augsburg lost a true friend in Peter Bircks who spent three decades working at the club. The club lost someone who has spent time in various roles of club operations. Bircks was also a member of the FC Augsburg supervisory board until he sadly passed away. After Peter Bircks passed away, the club supervisory board have elected a new chairman. This follows the re-election of the current supervisory board at the club’s annual members meeting on 18th September 2018. Gerhard Wiedemann, Thomas Müller, Walter Sianos and Johannes Hintersberger were elected for three more years. In a unanimous decision at a recent annual supervisory board meeting, Thomas Müller has been elected as the new chairman. Gerhard Wiedeman will act as his deputy, repeating his former role served under Peter Bircks’ leadership. “I am delighted at the faith my colleagues have in me and have accepted the decision,” said Thomas Müller. The new chairman was a member of the joint-stock company supervisory board between 2006 and 2015 before joining the FCA supervisory board. “It is an honour to lead the FCA supervisory board. I will do everything I can to replicate and the club’s successes experienced under Peter Bircks. We made a lot of progress together with Peter in recent years.”
