Super sub Jensen scores winner – Vargas takes point against Germany
Finn needs just 25 seconds
Whilst FCA were facing Ajax at the weekend in the last friendly of pre-season (0-1), two Augsburg players were representing their countries.
Fredrik Jensen had a perfect minute on Sunday night. The Finnish attacker was introduced as a substitute shortly after the hour mark in the Nations League fixture against Ireland. He led an attack and scored the only goal of the game just 25 seconds after coming on (63’). Finland’s first victory in their second game takes them to 2nd place in their group behind Wales.
Ruben Vargas and Switzerland were taking on Germany in the meantime; the Swiss took a point after drawing 1-1. Ilkay Gündogan put Jogi Löw’s side in the lead (14’) before Silvan Widmer equalised after the break (58’). Vargas was introduced in the latter stages of the game in place of Mönchengladbach’s Breel Embolo. Switzerland have one point from two games and are in last place, albeit in a strong group made up of Germany, Spain and Ukraine.
