Striker Andi Zeqiri to strengthen FC Augsburg
New signing for FCA
FC Augsburg have been active in the transfer market and have signed striker Andi Zeqiri on a one year loan deal from English Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion. The 22-year-old has played for all of Switzerland’s national youth teams, scored 11 times in 16 appearances for their U21 side, and has recently been called up to the Switzerland first team. His contract at Augsburg will expire on 30th June 2022.
“We are very glad that Andi has chosen to sign for FCA despite fielding numerous offers. He is a player with a strong mentality and we have been in contact with him since his time in Lausanne. He has all the qualities that a good attacker needs; his pace and finishing ability will boost our play,” commented FCA general manager of sport Stefan Reuter.
“I am looking forward to playing with FC Augsburg and playing in the Bundesliga. The great efforts of the club’s officials and the positive chats I had with them assured me that FCA is exactly the right club for my development. I want my strengths to complement the team so that we have a very successful season,” added Andi Zeqiri on his transfer.
The Swiss national team player introduces himself to the FCA fans in his first interview with FCA TV.
He will have to wait a few days before meeting his new teammates, but Ruben Vargas will join up with him on international duty with Switzerland, as Zeqiri, who did take part in a training camp with the Swiss first team before the European Championship, is officially selected for the first time.
